Dr. Anthony Abu Dr. Anthony Abu is the New Zealand Fire Service Commission Lecturer in Fire Engineering at the University of Canterbury. His PhD is in Structural Fire Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, on the behaviour of composite floor slabs in fire conditions. During his time at the University of Sheffield he was involved in a number of consultancy projects and the implementation of the structural fire engineering Eurocodes in the UK. He also worked with Buro Happold Engineers Ltd. on a number of structural and structural fire engineering projects that include a number of sports stadia, office complexes and airports. His areas of research include design of structures in fire conditions, fire severity of buildings, collapse mechanisms of slabs in fire conditions and design of fire exposed buildings post-earthquake. Many of his papers have been presented in national and international conferences, including PSSC 2013, 13th International Fire Science and Engineering Conference, 8th International Conference on Structures in Fire and many more. |
Dr. Daniel A. Crowl Dr. Daniel A. Crowl is the Herbert H. Dow Professor for Chemical Process Safety in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Professor Crowl received his B.S. in fuel science from the Pennsylvania State University and his M.S. and PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois. He is co-author of the textbook Chemical Process Safety: Fundamentals with Applications and author of the books Guidelines for Consequence Analysis of Chemical Releases and Understanding Explosions. Professor Crowl is a member of the AICHE Loss Prevention Committee, and past chair of the AICHE Loss Prevention Symposium.

Dr. R. K. Dave Dr. Dave is Senior Specialist (Policy and Plans) at National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA) functioning under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He worked as a senior expert in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, ADB, GIFT, State Governments of Karnataka, Jharkhand and Himachal between 2006-2012. Before that - during 22 years of his career as a civil servant, Dr. Dave worked in various capacities with MoC&IT (Government of India) and State Government of Gujarat. Dr. Dave holds PhD in Disaster Management, MBA (both from Gujarat University) and B.E degree in Electronics and Communication (from Engineering College Jodhpur) and possess extensive expertise in both ICT and Disaster Management domains. |

Dr. S Ganeshan Dr. Ganeshan is currently the Program Director at Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) for Asia Pacific region and serves as a member in CCPS Technical Committees on Guidelines for Engineering Design for Process Safety and Development of Process Safety Competency Matrices. He has over 30 years of experience in Engineering and Contracting Companies (EPC) in India and abroad serving the Chemical, Petrochemical, Fertilizer and Refinery sectors in Process Design, Marketing and Project Management functions. Dr. Ganeshan also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay for over 14 years and was also the president of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2008. He is a life member of AIChE, member of Technology and Energy Expert Committee in Indian Chemical Council, Energy Auditor at Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Ministry of Power, Government of India) and holds fellowship from Institute of Engineers, India. Dr. Ganeshan received his B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, M.E in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. |
Sri. B.Karthikeyan Mr. Karthikeyan is a chemical Engineer and Senior Member of AIChE, with 35 years experience in chemical process industry, in operations, technical services and process safety. He provided PSM and risk management consultancy services to over 100 chemical process industries in India and Internationally. He also implemented Process Safety Management System conforming to current best practices, in many plants. He conducted root cause analysis of process incidents involving fatalities. His papers were presented on PSM in national and international seminars and published many articles on PSM. He is the author of the book "Practical Process Safety Management" and blog “Process Safety Management India” |
Dr. Venkatesh Kodur Dr. Kodur, Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, is a Professor and Director of the Centre on Structural Fire Engineering and Diagnostics at Michigan State University. His research interests include: Evaluation of fire resistance of structural systems through large scale fire experiments and numerical modeling and Characterization of materials under high temperature. Prof. Kodur is a professional engineer, Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers, Fellow of American Concrete Institute. He is a Foreign Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, Chairman of ACI Fire Protection Committee, Chairman of ASCE-29 (Fire) Standards Committee and a member of UK-EPSRC College of Reviewers.

Dr. Hyuckmyun Kwon President for chemical safety division, Korea Professionals Engineers Association Vice Chairman, Korean Institute of Hazardous Materials Dr. Hyuckmyun Kwon is President of chemical safety division at Korea Professional Engineers Association (KPEA) and vice chairman of Korean Institute of Hazardous Materials. He is former Director of KOSHA Ulsan area office and Dept of Safety Research in KOSHA OSHIRI. He became the president of Chemical Safety Division, Korea Society of occupational safety (KOSOS). He pursued his Ph.D. in chemical Engineering at Graduate School of Yonsei University. He was the recipient of the Presidential Commendation award and was listed in the Marquis Who’s Who in the world(2011). |
Dr. M. Sam Mannan Dr. Sam Mannan is Regents Professor and Director of the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University. Dr. Mannan is a registered professional engineer in the states of Texas and Louisiana and a Certified Safety Professional. Dr. Mannan has published 160 peer-reviewed journal publications, several books and book chapters on inherently safer processes and delivered about 175 technical meeting presentations as invited and Keynote speaker. Dr. Mannan is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from AIChE, TAMU, IChemE including the recent Bush Excellence Award for Faculty in Public Service. |
Dr. K.U. Mistry Dr. Mistry is currently the Chairman, Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Govt. of Gujarat and Chairman, State Level Expert Appraisal Committee. He has served as a Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, Surat and Chairman, Gujarat Public Service Commission. He has written several books and more than 30 articles on Industrial Safety & Health. He has been awarded 'Public Honour Awards' by the Rotary Clubs of Vapi&Ankleshwar for functioning as the best Government Officer.

Dr. Dinesh Mohan Associate Faculty, Transport Research and Injury Prevention Program (TRIPP) Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India Dr. Dinesh Mohan is an Emiritus Professor at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He was previously the Coordinator of the Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Programme and Head, W.H.O. Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Safety Technology at IIT Delhi. His research areas include Biomechanics and epidemiology. He is presently involved in design of safer truck fronts, analysis of highway crashes, analysis of tractor driver vibrations and interaction between safety and environmental policies. |
Dr. IL Moon Dr. Il Moon is professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering and president of university press at Yonsei University in Korea. His main research area is to develop appropriate tools and methodologies for the synthesis and analysis of various chemical processes. He is particularly interested in the safety verification of chemical process operating procedures. He holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering at Yonsei University, KAIST in Korea and Carnegie Mellon University in USA, respectively. He designed and implemented various processes for fertilizer industry in KIST, Korea from 1985 through 1988 as a researcher. He also developed a formal verification method for the safety of chemical process operating procedures at Imperial College, London in 1993 as a consultant. He received the best paper prize of KJChE in 1998. |
Dr. Raghunathan Rengaswamy Dr. Raghunathan Rengaswamy is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Madras. Prior to this, he was a Professor, Chemical Engineering and co-director of the Process Control and Optimization Consortium (PCOC) at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX USA, Associate and full Professor at Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY and Assistant Professor at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India. He was also a visiting professor at Purdue University, USA (2001)Rengaswamy was the recipient of the Young Engineer Award for the year 2000 awarded by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for outstanding engineers under the age of 32. With Prof. Shankar Narasimhan of IIT Madras, Rengaswamy co-founded Gyan Data Pvt. Ltd (GDPL), a high technology service and product development company located in IIT Madras Research Park. |
Sri. V.B. Sant Mr. Sant is the Director General (DG) of National Safety Council (NSC) of India. Prior to joining NSC, Shri Sant worked for 20 years in Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes (DGFASLI), Mumbai under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India. He was also associated with formulation and execution of several ILO projects. He was also associated with the Working Group constituted by the Planning Commission for preparation of the report on Occupational Safety and Health for the 10th Five-Year Plan.Shri Sant is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from IIT, Mumbai with a PG Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad.

Dr. Rajagopalan Srinivasan Prof. Srinivasan is currently Professor in Chemical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar and Coordinator of Safety Centre. He was Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical &Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore before moving to IIT Gandhinagar. He serves as the President of the AIChE Singapore section and an Editor of the IChemE journal - Process Safety & Environmental Protection. Inherent safety and inherently safer design is one of his major research areas. He has authored or co-authored over 320 international peer-reviewed publications with several books and patents. He received his B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and PhD from Purdue University.

Dr. M. Surianarayanan Dr. Surianarayanan is currently the Principal Scientist at the Cell for Industrial Safety and Risk Analysis (CISRA), CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute. His research areas of interest are chemical process safety, thermo kinetic analysis of chemical process reactions, occupational safety and health, accident database, charge transfer polymerizations and Biocalorimetry. Dr Surianarayanan has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He pursued his postdoctoral research at the Kanagawa Industrial Technology Research Institute, Japan under Science and Technology Agency fellowship of Govt. of Japan and was also a visiting fellow at the Science and Technology Research Center of Mitsubishi chemical corporation of Japan during 2000-2002 where he carried out advance research on modeling and simulation of runaway phenomenon for exothermic chemical reaction systems. Dr Surianarayanan has been a member of several consultancy projects executed by CISRA in the area of Quantitative Risk Analysis and Thermochemical Analysis and was also a part of the investigation team and special committees for accident analysis appointed by the Govt. of Tamilnadu. Currently he chairs the SHE committee of Indian Chemical Council (southern region) and also serves as a member of the regional committee of ICC, Executive committee of National safety Council, Tamil Nadu Chapter and State Crisis Group of the Government of Pondicherry. Recently he was nominated as the convener-member of the Central CSIR-Team for modernization and mechanization of fireworks industries for accident prevention. |
Dr. Venkat Venkatasubramanian Dr. Venkatasubramanian is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University. Before moving to Columbia, he was professor in Chemical Engineering atPurdue University for several years. Prof. Venkat has made enormous contribution in the area of process safety analysis,process fault diagnosis and supervisory control, pharmaceutical informatics, product formulation and design etc. He received his Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 1984, M.S. in Physics from Vanderbilt University in 1979, and B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Madras, India, in 1977. |
Sri. R.A. Venkitachalam Sri R.A.Venkitachalam is currently the Vice President (Public Safety) of Underwriters Laboratories and works proactively in advancing the cause of public safety across large parts of the developing world. Being passionate about catering the urgent need for enhanced measures to ensure Public Safety in the backdrop of accelerating economic growth and globalized markets, he spearheaded the establishment of safety councils in India - the first one for UL outside of North America, to facilitate constructive dialogue between multiple stake holders in tackling Public Safety challenges. As a managing director of UL before the current role, Venki led the growth of UL in the region for over 10 years, covering South East Asia, India, Middle East and Africa in terms of investments and expansion of UL’s geographic footprint including technical, laboratory and service range and capabilities. Venki has been a speaker at several forums in India and abroad covering issues pertaining to Public Safety, Industry-specific issues as well as General Management & is actively associated with the CSR initiatives of UL, focusing on creating Safety Awareness among the public through public programs aimed at school children too. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, holding a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Management. |
Sri. G. Vishwanathan Mr. Vishwanathan has more than three decades of Operation and Technical Services experience in Petrochemicals in IPCL and Synthetic Fibre plants. He has also acquired Engineering and HSE experience for 10 years while working with L&T, L&T Chiyoda and Technip along with his association as a Risk & Safety Consultant with Germanischer Lloyd and MS Chola Risk Services on HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and other safety studies. He has about 10 years of experience in handling highly toxic Acrylonitrile plant which produces lethal Hydrogen Cyanide as byproduct.
