IIT Gandhinagar invites proposals for presentation at the International Conference on Safety at IIT Gandhinagar on October 12-13, 2012.

Proposals Invited

Proposals will be considered on all aspects of safety - design, operations, regulations, planning, standards, testing, behavioural safety, etc., across different sectors, such as Fire, Transportation, Consumer, Industrial, Informal Sector, Buildings and Structures, etc. Interdisciplinary proposals are especially encouraged.

Examples of potential areas of interest to conference participants include (note: these are for illustrative purposes only and should not be considered limiting):
* Reports on implementation or maintenance of safety systems in organizations or industry
* Latest developments on research and theoretical aspects of safety
* New safety products or applications
* Performance, organizational or behavioural management
* Policy or regulatory regime
* Economics of safety

Proposal Guidelines

Please submit a 500 word abstract, summarizing the presentation and the presenter(s) professional background, emphasizing previous work in the area. We will also consider completed papers. Deadline

The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to August 30, 2012. Proposals will be reviewed by a faculty committee at IIT Gandhinagar and acceptances notified on a rolling basis.

Conference Background

The interdisciplinary conference will bring together researchers, educators, safety officials, engineers, safety advocates, policy makers and consultants to explore solutions to pressing safety challenges in India from a global perspective. The program includes informative keynote and plenary presentations by eminent professionals and general breakout sessions spread over two days in four tracks on design, operations, planning and research. The conference will conclude with working policy and research sessions on core safety issues identified during the conference.
