Innovative photovoltaic (PV) applications with special emphasis on performance and safety issues was the theme of the Engineering Challenge in 2011. The four winning teams from the Ideation phase comprising Sunil Patidar, Shubham Chauhan, Divyank Singh, Abhilash Patel, U. Revanth Sandeep, Ravi Teja, Abhishek Kandoi and Maisum Ali Dairkee pursued internship at UL Chicago and at the PV Labs of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA during the summer of 2012 .
Electric Vehicle Challenge, 2012
Eighty IITGn students embarked upon the first UL-IITGN challenge of developing innovative ideas to address fire accidents in urban India. To obtain the necessary background students visited fire services in three major Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad., interacted with fire department officials, and were mentored by UL experts from India & US and by chiefs of fire service departments. The expert panel commended the work of all participants, and recommended four teams to graduate to the Conceptualization and Technology development phase. The 8 finalists – Anchit Gaurav, Adnan Ahmad Ansari, Vivek Yadav, Abhishek Umrao, Saurya Prakash Sinha, Divyank Singh, Shruti Jain and Ekta Prashnani also availed a three-week internship at UL, Chicago during summer 2010 . They were also invited to present their ideas in the International Conference on Disaster Mitigation through Fire Safety and Earthquake Engineering 2010, at Ahmedabad.
